Chloe Clark, born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia is a printmaker and interdisciplinary artist currently enrolled in the Maryland Institute College of Art. Clark uses her practice to articulate the overwhelming feelings she experiences moving through life; specifically choosing mediums of expression that combine mindfulness of craft with repetitive actions that allow room to think. This manifests in both quick, gestural, drawing based expressions of feeling and more labored and calculated practices that encourage reflection on initial outbursts of mood. Clark currently displays this line of thought with abstract line drawings, which are then intricately colored; serial monoprinting that forms compositions for paintings or drawings; or cutting, collaging, or using paper maché techniques on found and collected papers. Clark enjoys collecting materials, primarily as a way to divert waste, and finding a use for them in art making. Though her work centers on Clark’s own emotions and experiences, the way major societal issues play into her experience reveals itself in such intentional media choices.
